PEACE & JUSTICE COMMITTEE EVENT
Saint Clare in the Community: Volunteer to Help the Unhoused
For the 250th Anniversary of St. Clare Parish, the Peace & Justice Committee will be hosting a series of programming and activities throughout the year as a way to highlight St. Clare Parish’s longstanding history of service, charitable works, and commitment to Catholic social teaching.
Our first Peace & Justice activity of the year is an opportunity to serve alongside our unhoused and economically insecure neighbors in partnership with Neighborhood Hands.
Join us on Saturday, September 5 or Saturday, September 19 as we volunteer at Neighborhood Hands’ biweekly community gathering in Guadalupe Gardens. Neighborhood Hands creates opportunities for people experiencing homelessness or economic insecurity to build community, access supportive resources, and contribute meaningfully through neighborhood beautification and park stewardship.
Volunteers (16 yrs and older) help welcome participants, serve breakfast, distribute clothing and essential items, assist community resource partners, and support a morning centered on dignity, connection, and hope.

7:15am-10:00am
Location:
Guadalupe Gardens, San Jose (across from Coleman Avenue Shopping Center).
Volunteer Sign-ups:
After Masses on August 22-23 and August 29-30.
Members of the Peace & Justice Committee will be registering volunteers and sharing information about the program.
